On Saturday, Gulliver Prep came up short against Mater Lakes Academy and fell 48-41.
Gulliver Prep's loss came despite strong showings from Mikayla Brown and Caitlen Dauphin. Brown scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and two steals, while Dauphin dropped a double-double on ten points and 25 rebounds. That was a full 46.3% of Gulliver Prep's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Allison Podvin was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Mater Lakes Academy found their leader in underclassman Vanessa Vancott, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Alessandra Wandembergh, who scored seven points along with nine steals.
Gulliver Prep's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Mater Lakes Academy, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gulliver Prep and Pine Crest will face off at 5:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Mater Lakes Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Schoolhouse Prep at 5:00 p.m.
