Robert C. Byrd is 8-0 against the Knights since February of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Robert C. Byrd Eagles' homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Preston Knights at 7:30 p.m. on February 7th. Robert C. Byrd will be strutting in after a win while the Knights will be coming in after a loss.
Last Wednesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Robert C. Byrd beat the Cougars 44-38. The victory was just what Robert C. Byrd needed coming off of a 79-51 loss in their prior match.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Robert C. Byrd to victory, but perhaps none more so than Logan Boyce, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Boyce has scored at least a third of Robert C. Byrd's points. Another player making a difference was Camryn Newsuan, who scored 11 points along with three steals and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Preston's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 63-51 to Lincoln.
Kaden Bachtel put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. It was the first time this season that he pulled down eight or more rebounds. Brier Rugg was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Robert C. Byrd's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Preston, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-11.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Robert C. Byrd have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 22.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Preston struggles in that department as they've been averaging 22.7 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
