Windham is 8-2 against Lyman Memorial since February of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Windham Whippets will look to defend their home court against the Lyman Memorial Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Windham knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten contests -- so hopefully Lyman Memorial likes a good challenge.
Windham scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They came out on top against Windham RVT by a score of 81-70. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Windham's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tahj Jones led the charge by scoring 21 points along with nine assists and eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jones has scored all season. Anthony Green was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 11 rebounds.
Lyman Memorial fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They walked away with a 49-36 win over Putnam on Friday.
Lyman Memorial's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kevin Botticello, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Botticello is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Chandler, who scored 13 points.
Windham's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Lyman Memorial, their win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-7.
Keep an eye on the arc in Wednesday's match: Windham have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 6 threes per game. It's a different story for Lyman Memorial, though, as they've been averaging only 0.4 threes per game. Given Windham's sizeable advantage in that area, Lyman Memorial will need to find a way to close that gap.
Windham strolled past Lyman Memorial when the teams last played back in February of 2022 by a score of 69-51. Will Windham repeat their success, or does Lyman Memorial have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
