The Highland Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 23 points or more this season. They blew past Maricopa 69-25 on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Highland has managed all season.
Highland was led to victory by Michael Johnson and Ty Crandall. Johnson scored 13 points along with four steals, while Crandall scored 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for him. Henry Hall was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Highland's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-4. As for Maricopa, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.
Highland and Red Mountain will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Red Mountain focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten last Saturday. As for Maricopa, they will head out on the road to face off against Cesar Chavez at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Cesar Chavez will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
