The Woodland Wolverines won the last time they faced the Edisto Cougars, and things went their way on Wednesday too. Woodland enjoyed a cozy 53-35 victory over Edisto. Given Woodland's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while Edisto is ranked 247th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Woodland got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Travon Tate out in front who scored nine points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jervaze Salley, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds.
Woodland has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. As for Edisto, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-17.
Woodland will be playing at home against Timberland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Timberland is coming into the game with three straight defeats on the road, meaning Woodland will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. Edisto does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
