2A District 2 recap October 1, 2013
Colby Bagwell and Josh Durbin provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Raton. The connection went for 85 yards, the longest such play in 2A District 2 this season.
Santa Rosa added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Taos, 49-20. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Clayton's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Bagwell threw for 85 yards and Durbin had 85 yards receiving. On the ground Nick Wiseman contributed 188 yards.
Wiseman was a passing and rushing force as the Yellowjackets defeated the Tigers.
Bagwell put up the best numbers through the air as Clayton bested Raton.
Thanks to the talents of Clay Cabber and Cesar Quintana, Estancia has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Cabber leads the league in passing with 284 yards, while Quintana has rushed for 532 yards this season. Collin Justiss' team's Durbin leads the league in receiving yards with 147 on 3 catches.
The Yellowjackets were able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Brock Walton's team. Clayton came in at 24 in the state poll after placing at number 27 last week.
