It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but St. Michael the Archangel had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Maryville Spoofhounds 37-34. The victory was familiar territory for the Guardians, who have now won eight matchups in a row.

Gage Burgess produced another solid effort throwing for 175 yards and five TDs on only 15 passes, while also rushing for 122 yards. Those five passing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Henry Miller was in the mix as well, providing St. Michael the Archangel with two touchdowns.

St. Michael the Archangel's win bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Maryville, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-3 record.

Looking ahead, St. Michael the Archangel will face off against Lift for Life Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. That game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Burgess and Phoenix Isaiah. Maryville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
