A District 2 recap Oct. 23, 2012
West Hancock extended the longest winning streak in A District 2 this week by beating Newman Catholic, 24-7. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Eagles.
Prairie Valley was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in the league. Earlier in the week, the Warriors triumphed over AGWSR 25-13.
Newman Catholic's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Knights feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Jack Fitzgerald has thrown for 449 yards and one touchdown this season, while Spencer Schmidt has six catches for 186 yards. Joe Burgmeier leads the league in rushing with 1284 yards.
Belmond-Klemme and Southeast Webster-Grand played the most hotly contested game in A District 2 this week, with Belmond-Klemme eventually emerging with a 13-12 victory.
