The Rodriguez Mustangs will head out on the road to square off against the Whitney Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
After a string of five wins, Rodriguez's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a serious blow against Vanden, falling 70-34. While losing is never fun, Rodriguez can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 389th, while Vanden is ranked 74th).
Rodriguez's defeat came about despite a quality game from KJ Franklin, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Whitney suffered a rough 78-54 loss at the hands of Rocklin on Friday. Whitney was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-19.
Rodriguez now has a losing record at 13-14. As for Whitney, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 16-12.
Rodriguez lost to Whitney on the road by a decisive 72-58 margin when the teams last played back in January. Can Rodriguez avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
