Even though the South Harrison Hawks have not done well against the Calhoun Red Devils recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. South Harrison snuck past the Red Devils with a 50-45 victory. Winning may never get old, but South Harrison sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
South Harrison's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hope Woods, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Halle Bland was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
South Harrison is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season. As for Calhoun, their defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-13.
South Harrison won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Titans at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Gilmer County is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. Calhoun will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on the Big Blacks at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th.
