Claiborne Academy faced River Oaks in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Rebels were beaten by the Mustangs 68-28. The Rebels have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
 Several Rebels players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was   Nate Smith, who picked up 136 receiving yards and three  scores. Smith showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 58 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of  Kyler Monk, who threw for 216 yards and four  touchdowns while picking up 10.8 yards per attempt.
 River Oaks' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but  Jd Green led the charge by rushing for 144 yards and three  TDs on only 13 carries. Another player making a difference was  Andrew Robinson, who threw for 284 yards and three  touchdowns on only 12 passes.
Claiborne Academy suffered their first home  loss, dropping their record down to 8-2. As for River Oaks, their win bumped their record up to 7-0.
As of now, neither Claiborne Academy nor the Mustangs have any future games scheduled.
