Battle Creek has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Wakefield Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Battle Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Tuesday.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 14 more assists than your opponent, a fact Battle Creek proved. They enjoyed a cozy 49-33 victory over O'Neill.
Among those leading the charge was Sami Wemhoff, who scored 7 points along with 14 rebounds and 5 steals. Another player making a difference was Jadyn Buckendahl, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Wakefield's 17-8 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They lost to Wayne on the road by a decisive 52-38 margin on Tuesday. The matchup was a 26-26 toss-up at halftime, but Wakefield was blown out by Wayne in the second.
Battle Creek's win lifted them to 3-0 while O'Neill's defeat dropped them down to 0-2.
Battle Creek came out on top in a nail-biter against Wakefield in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, sneaking past 59-57. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Wakefield's Alex Arenas, who scored 19 points along with 7 assists and 6 rebounds. Now that she won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Battle Creek to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
