After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Rehoboth Christian, Laguna Acoma was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Navajo Pine Warriors a 22-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won seven contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Ciandra Lucero made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Kaylee Lorenzo was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high.
