The Calhoun Academy Cavaliers lost against the Cathedral Academy Generals back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Calhoun Academy took a 64-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cathedral Academy. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Calhoun Academy in their matchups with Cathedral Academy: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the loss, Calhoun Academy still got an impressive performance from Chase Strickland, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. Strickland hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Connor Hayes, who scored 15 points.
Cathedral Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bryce Ward, who scored 16 points along with two steals. Ajani Gresham was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with two steals.
Calhoun Academy's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-9. As for Cathedral Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 21-7.
Calhoun Academy will head out on the road to take on Orangeburg Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Orangeburg Prep has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 201 points over their last three games. As for Cathedral Academy, they will be playing at home against Pinewood Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Cathedral Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Friday.
