Skyview extended their winning streak (dating back to last season) to 22 on Thursday, bumping them up to 2-0. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Kelso Hilanders. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Storm have posted against the Hilanders since June 2, 2021.
Malea Figueroa made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Figueroa was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on T Lies, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Maya Figueroa was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Skyview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kelso only managed seven.
As for Kelso, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2. They haven't had much luck with Skyview recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.
On Kelso's side, Kylie Killett spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits.
On the hitting side, Brylee Lafever and Avery Mackin did some serious damage despite the final result: Lafever got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one RBI, while Mackin went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kailanah Hagdahl, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Coming up, Skyview will face off against Pe Ell/Willapa Valley at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday. As for Kelso, they will square off against Woodland at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
