This season hasn't been kind to the Linden Patriots, who are still winless after their eighth game. They took a serious blow against Greene County on Friday, falling 82-42. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Linden in their matchups with Greene County: they've now lost four in a row.
Lester Scott went supernova for Greene County, scoring 22 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Scott has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Michael Gibson, who scored 14 points.
Linden bumped their record down to 0-8 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Greene County, their victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Linden will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Marengo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alabama (Marengo is ranked 447th, while Linden is ranked 462nd). Greene County won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Sumter Central at 7:00 p.m. on December 23rd. Sumter Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 12 contests -- so hopefully Greene County likes a good challenge.
