The American Fork Cavemen will challenge the Bingham Miners at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. American Fork will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
American Fork is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They never let Farmington get on the board and left with an 8-0 win. The Cavemen might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Talon Willardson looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Cooper Jones was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Crew Ingersoll was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.
American Fork was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in ten consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Bingham faced Skyridge in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Miners walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Falcons. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Miners.
Bingham also got a great performance from Noah Devroom as he didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run over 5.1 innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Dylan Frank was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Linkin Wilberger, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and two RBI.
American Fork's win bumped their record up to 23-4. As for Bingham, their victory bumped their record up to 18-10.
American Fork was able to grind out a solid win over Bingham when the teams last played back in May of 2021, winning 8-5. Will the Cavemen repeat their success, or do the Miners have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
