East Hampton will venture away from home to face off against Smithtown West at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Monday, it was close, but East Hampton sidestepped West Babylon for a 7-5 victory.
Izzy Briand made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Briand was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Olivia Dodge, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs. Alexa Schaffer was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Smithtown West). Everything went their way against Islip on Friday as they made off with a 17-5 win. Smithtown West not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since May 12, 2025 (when they won 14-2).
Gabrielle Krayewski was incredible, firing off two home runs and seven RBI while going 4-for-5. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Azra Sciortino, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
East Hampton pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Smithtown West, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
East Hampton suffered a grim 8-2 defeat to Smithtown West in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can East Hampton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
