The Rockhurst Hawklets had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They walked away with a 66-54 win over Shawnee Mission East. With that victory, Rockhurst brought their scoring average up to 50.8 points per game.
Rockhurst's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kevin Sullivan led the charge by scoring 13 points along with three steals and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Maher, who scored 16 points.
Rockhurst is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Shawnee Mission East, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rockhurst's road trip will continue as they head out to face St. James Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. As for Shawnee Mission East, they will face off against Gardner-Edgerton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gardner-Edgerton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 175th, while Shawnee Mission East is ranked 14th).
