Mount Notre Dame will head out on the road to face off against the Ross Rams at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Mount Notre Dame will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Mount Notre Dame's hitters will try to repeat the strong performance they gave on Wednesday, when they got past St. Ursula Academy's usually-dominant pitching crew. Mount Notre Dame blew past St. Ursula Academy 12-1. The matchup marked Mount Notre Dame's most dominant win of the season.
Audrey Gildea spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Mount Notre Dame let Savanna Gault and Grace Pitzer run wild. Gault went 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Pitzer went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Kat Zielinski, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Mount Notre Dame was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Ross beat Taylor 5-2 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rams.
The team relied heavily on Kam Commins, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Kailyn May was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.
Mount Notre Dame's record now sits at 7-3. As for Ross, their record is now 9-3.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mount Notre Dame hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .367. However, it's not like Ross struggles in that department as they've averaged .358. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
