Softball Recap: Monday's Defeat Ends Hershey's Winning Streak

Hershey dropped their record down to 9-6 on Monday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Hempfield Black Knights by a score of 4-2. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Trojans couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Hempfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games.

For Hempfield's part, Kali Peifer made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Peifer was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Peifer wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jenna Ernst, who went 1-for-4 with three runs. Chloe Diener was another, going 3-for-4 with one run.

Hershey does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hempfield, they will head out to face off against Northern York at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
