Sunset is 2-8 against Mountainside since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Sunset Apollos will head out on the road to face off against the Mountainside Mavericks at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Sunset focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Thursday.
Sunset's recent rough patch got a bit rougher after their third straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 46-28 to Jesuit. While losing is never fun, Sunset can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while Jesuit is ranked 13th).
Despite the loss, Sunset saw an underclassman step up: Ruby Foord scored eight points.
Sunset struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Mountainside ended up a good deal behind Beaverton on Thursday and lost 52-36. Mountainside has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Sunset's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Mountainside, they dropped their record down to 6-12 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Sunset strolled past Mountainside in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 52-33. Does Sunset have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mountainside turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
