Pittston is a perfect 5-0 against Old Forge since March of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. Pittston will host Old Forge at 4:15 p.m. Pittston will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
While Pittston's win against Abington Heights wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Pittston won by a run and slipped past Abington Heights 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Patriots have posted since May 6, 2024.
Elijah Barr made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Barr was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Richard Tonte was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Joe Bradley was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Old Forge took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Monday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Mountain View.
The team relied heavily on Jake Iacavazzi, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of TJ DiMattia, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Pittston pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Old Forge, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Pittston came out on top in a nail-biter against Old Forge in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 8-7. Does Pittston have another victory up their sleeve, or will Old Forge turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
