Layton extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 11 on Wednesday, dropping them down to 0-6. They lost 21-6 to the Logan Grizzlies. The Lancers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Grizzlies from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.
Ryleigh Newey and Serenity Overton did some serious damage despite the final result: Newey went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Overton went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
As for Logan, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 6-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 12.5 runs this season.
On Logan's side, Norah Zundel and Cambree Cooper were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Zundel pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. Meanwhile, Cooper pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Zundel went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double, while Cooper went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two RBI gave Zundel a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jayzanna Pauni and Miley Allen did most of the damage at the plate: Pauni went 3-for-5 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Allen went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most RBI Pauni has posted since back in April of 2025. Taryn Craner was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Looking ahead, Layton will take on Taylorsville at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Logan, they will face off against Mountain Crest at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
