Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Baldwin Indians, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. The game between Baldwin and Baker County wasn't particularly close, with Baldwin falling 38-21. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Baldwin in their matchups with Baker County: they've now lost three in a row.
Baldwin's lost on Friday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Fareed Coleman, who rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown. Coleman was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 62 yards.
Leading Baker County to victory were Benny Lewis and Hudson Register. Lewis rushed for 146 yards and a touchdown, while Register rushed for 165 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries.
Baldwin now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Baker County, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.
Baldwin does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Baker County will head out on the road to face off against Yulee at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Yulee is on a four-game streak of home wins, Baker County a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field.
