After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Pottsville, Minersville was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They blew past the Shenandoah Valley Blue Devils 17-2. Considering the Battlin' Miners have won eight matches by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Cali Laudeman looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, Payton Frantz was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Sterner, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.
Minersville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .733. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Minersville's victory bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Shenandoah Valley, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.
