A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Cougars take on the Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Somerset Academy - Canyons knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully King's Academy likes a good challenge.
Somerset Academy - Canyons is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They took down Bishop Verot 61-44. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while the Vikings are ranked 82nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Somerset Academy - Canyons got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alana Pinnock out in front who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine boards. Pinnock has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Delanie Doty, who posted 13 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals.
Somerset Academy - Canyons smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, King's Academy had just enough and edged Lincoln Park Academy out 57-55 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.
Somerset Academy - Canyons better keep an eye on Jade Jones. She was instrumental in King's Academy's win, dropping a double-double with 27 points and 15 boards. That's the most rebounds Jones has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brielle George, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards.
Somerset Academy - Canyons is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. As for King's Academy, their record is now 20-7.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Somerset Academy - Canyons has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 36.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like King's Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 34 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
