Basketball Recap: Dekaney Piles Up the Points Against Fort Bend Willowridge

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dekaney). They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat the Fort Bend Willowridge Eagles 71-44. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 551st, while the Eagles are ranked 1182nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dylan Thompson, who posted 12 points. Thompson has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Ernest Hampton was another key player, putting up 12 points.

The win was the fourth in a row for Dekaney, bringing their record for this year to 7-4. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 27 points. As for Fort Bend Willowridge, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Coincidentally, Dekaney and Fort Bend Willowridge will both be playing Emery/Weiner the next time they take the court. Fort Bend Willowridge will host Emery/Weiner at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Dekaney will head out to face them at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.
