Waccamaw is 10-0 against Aynor since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Waccamaw Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Aynor Blue Jackets at 7:30 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Waccamaw and seven for Aynor.
Last Wednesday, Waccamaw ended up a good deal behind Georgetown and lost 62-44.
Despite their defeat, Waccamaw saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Sutton Cooper, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds and two steals, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Dutch Kerns, who scored 11 points.
Aynor suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They were beaten by Dillon 64-30. While losing is never fun, Aynor can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while Dillon is ranked 106th).
Waccamaw's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 4-11. As for Aynor, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.
Everything went Waccamaw's way against Aynor in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as Waccamaw made off with a 59-38 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Aynor's Greg Brown, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Now that he won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be that much easier for Waccamaw to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
