The J.F. Webb Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They fell 58-47 to Vance County. J.F. Webb was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Vance County apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
J.F. Webb's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaydan Hester, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Hester pulled down eight or more rebounds. Jabari Hunter was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with two blocks.
Even though they lost, J.F. Webb smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vance County only pulled down 13 offensive rebounds.
Vance County can attribute much of their success to Khaleel Harvey, who scored 19 points. Another player making a difference was Taeshawn Alston, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
J.F. Webb bumped their record down to 1-10 with that loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.4 points per game. As for Vance County, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-6.
J.F. Webb will head out on the road to square off against Carrboro at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Vance County, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Cristo Rey Research Triangle at 6:30 p.m. Cristo Rey Research Triangle is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
