Ridgevue will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Rocky Mountain extended their winning streak to five on Friday. Everything went the Grizzlies' way against Capital as they made off with an 11-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Grizzlies, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Rocky Mountain got a great performance from Reece Hudson as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched.
At the plate, Aiden Henzler was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Trenton Forstrom was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and one run.
Rocky Mountain hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Ridgevue won against Boise on Tuesday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Warhawks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 win over Capital. The Warhawks haven't had any issues with the Golden Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Chance Schreiber was excellent, going 1-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxon Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Rocky Mountain pushed their record up to 18-6 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Ridgevue, their win bumped their record up to 11-8-1.
Rocky Mountain was able to grind out a solid victory over Ridgevue when the teams last played back in April, winning 6-3. Do the Grizzlies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warhawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
