Erie First Christian Academy's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They were outmatched by Girard at home and fell 85-51. While losing is never fun, Erie First Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 586th, while Girard is ranked 54th).
Despite the loss, Erie First Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: Avery Collins scored 33 points. Collins scored a full 64.7% of Erie First Christian Academy's points, the eighth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Tyshaun Tate was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Erie First Christian Academy's loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-7. As for Girard, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Mercyhurst Prep the next time they take the court. Girard will host Mercyhurst Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Erie First Christian Academy will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
