The West Florida Jaguars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 49-38 to Choctawhatchee. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for West Florida in their matchups with Choctawhatchee: they've now lost eight in a row.
Despite the loss, West Florida saw an underclassman step up: Amani (AB) Bartholomew dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Bartholomew has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last nine times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Shania Beeks, who scored eight points along with six assists.
West Florida's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 7-14. As for Choctawhatchee, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Florida won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Pensacola at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Pensacola and West Florida are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Choctawhatchee, they will head out on the road to take on Navarre at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
