The California Interscholastic Federation volleyball finals are set to
start Friday at Santiago Canyon College in Orange as national No. 3 Mater Dei looks to win its third Open Division title.
In all, six state champions will be crowned over two days. All games can be streamed on the
NFHS Network.
The final championship match on Saturday features
Mater Dei (Santa Ana) against NorCal representative
Rocklin. The Thunder upset No. 7 Archbishop Mitty on Tuesday in five sets.
Rocklin's coach, Bret Almaan-Cezar is no stranger to the state finals, having won 11 championships with the aforementioned Archbishop Mitty Monarchs. The Monarchs feature a trio of senior hitters in
Addy Scheitlin,
Gianna Bogan and
Rylee Heinz along with freshman
Sidney Jones, who combined for nearly 1,000 kills.
Mater Dei is battle tested against a schedule of SoCal heavyweights as well as three national tournaments, including a title at the Nike Tournament of Champions Southwest.
