The Smith Center Redmen entered their tilt with the Hoxie Indians with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Smith Center took down the Indians 56-42 on Tuesday. This was a revenge match for Smith Center, as the team was forced to settle for a 55-47 defeat when these two played last Saturday.
Smith Center found their leader in underclassman Reed Doane, who scored 14 points along with four steals. Doane hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Tegan McKenzie was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.
Smith Center pushed their record up to 6-8 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Hoxie, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.
Smith Center will head out on the road to challenge the Monarchs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Kansas (Thomas More Prep-Marian is ranked 249th, while the Redmen are ranked 256th). As for Hoxie, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Golden Eagles on Tuesday.
