The Temple Christian Tigers waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 47-36 victory over Antioch Christian Academy. That's another feather in the cap for Temple Christian, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Temple Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jeremiah Rivera led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and 17 rebounds. Rivera hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Josh Little was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Several Gators players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Pierce Howell, who scored 13 points. Howell is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for four games straight. Another player making a difference was Jered Davis, who scored nine points.
Temple Christian's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Antioch Christian Academy, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-5.
Temple Christian will head out on the road to challenge the Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Antioch Christian Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
