Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Lutheran

Lutheran extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping them up to 12-6. They were the clear victors by an 18-8 margin over the Air Academy Kadets. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Landry Warner looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lutheran got a massive performance out of Anthony Misch, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and two runs. What's more, Misch posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Tyce Macnamara, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.

Lutheran was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Air Academy only posted a batting average of .231.

As for Air Academy, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11. Kadets fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against Lutheran since Thursday.

On Air Academy's side, Sam Lay made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

Coming up, Lutheran will be playing at home against Cheyenne Mountain at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Air Academy, they will venture away from home to take on Pine Creek at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Kadets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season.
