The Eastbrook Panthers and the Lapel Bulldogs will face off at 4:00 p.m. on February 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Eastbrook extended their postseason success on Saturday against Blackford. They managed a 62-58 victory over the Bruins. The victory was nothing new for Eastbrook as they're now sitting on three straight.
Eastbrook got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Sophia Morrison out in front who scored 32 points. Morrison has been hot recently, having posted 20 or more points the last three times she's played. Olivia Howell was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Lapel put the finishing touches on their tenth blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They breezed by Winchester Community on the road to the tune of 62-21. Given Lapel's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while Winchester Community is ranked 265th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Eastbrook is on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 23-2 record this season. As for Lapel, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-4.
Eastbrook couldn't quite finish off Lapel in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 and fell 39-37. Can Eastbrook avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
