After three games on the road, Plainview is heading back home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Ada Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, Plainview didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Guthrie, but they still walked away with a 35-31 victory. Given Plainview's advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 148th, while Guthrie is ranked 332nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Plainview to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emilee Hedger, who scored 11 points along with four steals. Those 11 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Marya Southerland, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and six blocks.
Meanwhile, Ada scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They secured a 50-46 W over Dickson.
Ada's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Makaviaya Nelson, who scored ten points. Those ten points set a new season-high mark for her. Gracey Dotson was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Plainview now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Ada, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Plainview have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 19.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Ada struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 22.6 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Plainview was able to grind out a solid victory over Ada in their previous matchup back in January of 2021, winning 59-51. Does Plainview have another victory up their sleeve, or will Ada turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
