Denison has gone 8-2 against Sherman recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Yellow Jackets are taking a road trip to challenge the Bearcats at 6:45 p.m. Denison is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Denison turned things around against Greenville on Friday. They put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 9-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Yellow Jackets, who have now won eight games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Denison let Addison Ciaccio and Jamison Milner run wild. Ciaccio went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Milner went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that Milner launched this season. Another player making a difference was Katie-Lynn Douglas, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Denison lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are 4-2 when they post two or more home runs.
Meanwhile, Sherman gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over Anna. The Bearcats have beaten the Coyotes the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Coyotes has come to flipping the script.
Kendyll Applegate tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.
At the plate, Sherman got a massive performance out of Brennah Mask, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Riley, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 11-13. As for Sherman, their record now sits at 7-17-1.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Denison hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .336. However, it's not like Sherman struggles in that department as they've averaged .374. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Denison couldn't quite finish off Sherman in their previous matchup back in March and fell 10-8. Can the Yellow Jackets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
