Cardozo is on a 13-game streak of home wins, while Bowne is on a eight-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Cardozo Judges will take on the Bowne Wildcats at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Cardozo's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
Even though Forest Hills scored an imposing 76 points on Thursday, Cardozo still came out on top. Cardozo took their contest against Forest Hills 84-76. Given Cardozo's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 57th, while Forest Hills is ranked 383rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Bowne can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 76-52 margin over Francis Lewis. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 52-15.
Bowne relied on the efforts of Christopher Judge, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and three steals, and Messiah Person-Kennedy, who almost dropped a triple-double on 16 points, nine rebounds, and 11 blocks. That's the first time this season that Person-Kennedy pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Khaleel Williams-Mitchell, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Cardozo's win bumped their record up to 17-0. As for Bowne, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-2 record this season.
Cardozo won a game that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in December of 2023, slipping by Bowne 60-59. Does Cardozo have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bowne turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
