St. David has gone a perfect 10-0 against Duncan recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Tigers will take on the Wildkats at 3:45 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
St. David was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Patagonia on Monday. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Lobos. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by nine runs or more this season.
Emmitt Etter and Brody Stover did most of the damage at the plate: Etter scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Stover scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, Etter posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Vincent Ciccariello also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.
St. David always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Duncan, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They skirted past Lordsburg 13-12.
Isaac Harris was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
Harris wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Guy Riedhead, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Joe Nandino was another, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
Duncan is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for St. David, their record now sits at 5-6-1.
Everything went St. David's way against Duncan in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as St. David made off with a 13-4 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
