Randleman and the Cougars are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The Randleman Tigers are on the road again on Friday and plays the Southwestern Randolph Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Hopefully Randleman focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday.
A well-balanced attack led Randleman over the Wildcats in every quarter on their way to victory. Randleman blew past the Wildcats 54-34. Given Randleman's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 210th, while the Wildcats are ranked 465th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Randleman's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Audra Petty led the charge by scoring 22 points along with five rebounds. Petty is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 18 or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Beane, who scored four points along with five assists and five steals.
Meanwhile, Southwestern Randolph put the finishing touches on their 13th blowout victory of the season on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 71-31 victory over Providence Grove at home. The victory was nothing new for Southwestern Randolph as they're now sitting on six straight.
Randleman is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Southwestern Randolph, they pushed their record up to 18-2 with that victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.
Randleman didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against the Cougars when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 47-41 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Randleman since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
