The Centennial Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their 13th straight loss. The matchup between them and Nolensville wasn't particularly close, with Centennial falling 45-29. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Centennial in their matchups with the Knights: they've now lost four in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Centennial lost, one person who can't be blamed is Addison Gorday. Despite the final result, she scored 14 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Addison Pauley, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Centennial struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Nolensville racked up 12 assists.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Nolensville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sara Brakefield, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Brakefield has scored all season. Nyla Johnson was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with ten rebounds and five assists.
Centennial dropped their record down to 3-19 with that loss, which was their 11th straight on the road. As for Nolensville, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Centennial and the Spartans will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Summit is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Nolensville, they and the Bruins will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Brentwood presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Knights in Tennessee (the Bruins are ranked 20th, while the Knights are ranked 106th).
