There's no place like home for the Northwest Knights, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Friday. They walked away with a 74-62 win over West Clermont on Saturday. Given Northwest's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 335th, while West Clermont is ranked 689th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why West Clermont lost, one person who can't be blamed is Rayshawn Hubbard. Despite the final result, he scored 31 points along with three steals. Hubbard scored a full 50% of West Clermont's points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Duke, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
Even though they lost, West Clermont were working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Northwest now has a winning record of 5-4. As for West Clermont, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northwest will face off against East Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for West Clermont, they will head out on the road to face off against Loveland at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Loveland knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully West Clermont likes a good challenge.
