Despite the defeat, Westminster got a solid performance out of Matt Tran, who scored 16 points along with 6 assists and 3 steals. The contest was Tran's third in a row with at least ten points. Eric Hoang was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with 6 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Savanna was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Saddleback 74-46 at home. The win made it back-to-back wins for Savanna.
Savanna got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Dontey Henderson out in front who scored 26 points along with 4 steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Henderson has scored at least 25% of Savanna's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Paul Henderson, who scored 17 points.
Westminster's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Savanna, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Westminster have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Savanna struggles in that department as they've been averaging 13.5 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
