They came out on top against Cristo Rey by a score of 68-57 on Saturday. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Veritas Collegiate Academy has scored all season.
Veritas Collegiate Academy found their leader in underclassman Majesty Dawson, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. Dawson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Marcqell Freeman, who scored 18 points.
Veritas Collegiate Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for Cristo Rey, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-13.
Veritas Collegiate Academy will head out on the road to take on Summit Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Summit Christian Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 383rd, while Veritas Collegiate Academy is ranked 82nd). As for Cristo Rey, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against James River HomeSchool at 8:00 p.m. James River HomeSchool has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 220 points over their last three games.
