Gladstone extended the longest winning streak in Montview this week by beating Bassett, 44-22. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
La Puente moved up to 562 from 630 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Warriors were able to make the jump by beating Sierra Vista 42-0.
Gladstone's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Kevin Amezquita threw for 244 and three touchdowns and Sergio Torres had 115 yards receiving. On the ground Amezquita chipped in 123 yards. Christian Arteaga helped Gladstone's passing attack out by catching eight balls for 87 yards.
5-foot-9 quarterback Jose Ledesma of Azusa is the league leader in passing yards this season with 965. He has also thrown six touchdowns. On the ground, the Dons' Lee Jones has rushed for 1146 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Jamal Greenfield. The Bassett star has 34 catches for 538 yards.
Two of the top units in Montview will face off this week when Albert Sanchez's team takes on Duarte. The Gladiators' offense has racked up 222 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while the Falcons have allowed only 96 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Duarte takes on Gladstone. Jason Martin's team is in third place, while the Gladiators are in first place.
