Ellington has won three straight games at home, while Granby Memorial has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Knights will welcome the Bears at 6:15 p.m. Ellington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.1 runs per game this season.
Ellington proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 18) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past East Catholic 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Knights have posted since June 4, 2025.

Tyla Gambacorta made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madison Havener, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Granby Memorial got themselves on the board against Northwestern Regional on Tuesday, but Northwestern Regional never followed suit. They blew past the Highlanders 11-0. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by eight runs or more this season.
Like Ellington, Granby Memorial also got a great game from a two-way player: Amanda Bristol. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Bristol was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Sophia Vitelli was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Ellison Haury, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Granby Memorial was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .469. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Ellington's win bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Granby Memorial, their victory bumped their record up to 8-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Ellington hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Granby Memorial struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1.3 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Ellington was able to grind out a solid win over Granby Memorial when the teams last played back in May of 2025, winning 3-0. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
