The E.E. Smith Golden Bulls pushed their score all the way to 56 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 63-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pine Forest. E.E. Smith was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Pine Forest apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why E.E. Smith lost, one person who can't be blamed is Decarlo Brunson. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points. Another player making a difference was Asany Richmond, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Pine Forest's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nehemiah Mcdonald led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and 16 rebounds. The contest was Mcdonald's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Malachi Cooke, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
E.E. Smith's loss ended a 17-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-6. As for Pine Forest, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. E.E. Smith will face off against Western Harnett at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Western Harnett is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Pine Forest won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Triton at 7:30 p.m. on January 11th. Hopefully Triton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 last Friday.
